Hammett, Joseph

Funeral services for Joseph Howard Hammett, 91, of Corinth are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Corinthian Funeral Home with Warren Jones officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
Mr. Hammett died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Community Hospice in Verona. He was born Oct. 30, 1916, to Scott and Lee Hammett. He was retired from TVA. He loved bird hunting, Gospel and Country music and his vegetable garden, which he loved to share with friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Richardson Hammett (died - Dec. 23, 2004); his parents; his step father, Dennis Wigginton; sisters, Leota Powers and Mabel Hannah; and his brother, Travis Wigginton.
Survivors include his sons, William H. Hammett of Corinth and Donald Ray Hammett of Oakridge, Tnn.; brother, Haffard L. Hammett of Corinth; sisters, Hilda Dowd Renegar of Winchester, Tenn., and Letra Smith of Corinth; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Corinthian Funeral Home.

Hughes, James Cliff

James Cliff Hughes of Kossuth died Wednesday at Magnolia Hospital after an extended illness at the age of 62.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sallye G. Hughes, a son, James C. Hughes, Jr., Kossuth, a daughter, Mrs. Sarah H. Mathis, Ripley, Mississippi, two sisters, Mrs. Brewer Tomlinson, and Mrs. Ferol H. Coleman, both of Kossuth.
He is also survived by two grandchildren; Lori Mathis and Patrick Mathis.
Pall Bearers will be Merril Cartwright, Lloyd Follin, Leland Grisham, Thomas Hill Coleman, Cage Mills and Clarence Wroten.
The body will remain at Coleman Funeral Home until one hour before the services and then will lie in state at the church.
