Kennedy, Ronald

Funeral services for Ronald Kennedy, 58, of Corinth, are set for 1 p.m. Sunday at McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors Chapel with Bro. Warren Jones officiating and burial at Tuscumbia Baptist Church Cemetery
Mr. Kennedy died Friday, April 20, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was a Baptist who collected antique cars.
Survivors include his mother, Bobbie DeLoach Kennedy; two brothers, Charles W. Kennedy of Corinth and David Burnett and his wife, Robin, of California; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are classmates of the Corinth High School Class of 1966.
Visitation is today from 5 until 9 p.m.

Kiddy, Leta

Funeral services for Leta Kiddy, 92, of Corinth, are set for 11 a.m. today at Coleman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Wages officiating.  Burial will be at Parker Cemetery in Corinth.
Mrs. Kiddy died Monday, April 24, 2000, at her residence. She was a member of Calvery Pentecostal Church and a retired cook of Whitfield's Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eber R. Kiddy; four brothers, Valmer, Robert, Ruben, and Everette Utley; a sister, Annie Kelly; two grandsons and one granddaughter.
Survivors include her son, James Kiddy, of Corinth; two daughters, Velma Parker, of Corinth, and Marie Blasingame, of Hamilton, Ala.; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or the American Heart Association.
Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kirkland, Mattie E.

The community was saddened on Sunday morning, when at 5:00 o'clock, Mrs. Matty E. Kirkland, wife of the late Richard Kirkland, passed away at her home South of a Corinth, after an illness of several years.
The deceased was born in Petersburg, Va., 74 years ago. She moved to Corinth when she was half that age and has been a resident here for the past 37 years.
Mrs. Kirkland was one of the best known women in this county, having been a resident so long. Her family is one of the oldest in Alcorn County, and is recognized among the best people in the community.
She was a woman of strong character, possessed of the gentleness characteristic of true, noble womanhood. She was a kind neighbor, a loyal friend and an affectionate wife and mother, and her demise is the source of genuine sorrow to a large circle of friends here.
Her life was rich in all of its Christian virtues, having been a consecrated member of the Methodist Church for many years.
she is survived by 8 children, all of whom are extended the heartfelt sympathy of their concourse of friends. Those surviving are: John, Chas., Jim and Will Kirkland of this community, Mrs. Ross Carter and Robt. Kirkland, Memphis; Dr. Thos. Kirkland of Guys, Tenn., and Mrs. Mattie Taylor of Savannah, Ga.
Funeral services were conducted from her late residence today at 12:30 o'clock by Reverend D.L. Cogdell, and the body laid to rest in Box Chapel Cemetery, three miles northeast of Corinth.
